Smorgasburg Los Angeles - Week 8

Just off of Alameda Ave (at Bay St) in Downtown Los Angeles is the entrance,  to what the NY Times calls Smorgasburg (in Brooklyn) as "The Woodstock of Eating" But, in Los Angeles, we do it LA style...  Parking is FREE for the first 2 hours and admission is FREE. So there's no reason not to come each Sunday from 10 am - 5 pm. See What Jay Eats... Week 8 Sunday, August 7th  My first stop is usually at Todo Verde for one of their aqua frescas. Today I had the Amorcito, with strawberry, rose, chia seeds, and maple syrup.  Todo Verde also has smoothies too.  Lots of choices Almost too many... Next stop, Burritos La Palma It may not look like much, but these burritos are fantastic! Flour tortillas made each morning.  Stopped at Summer Crab Co for  their Singaporean Chili Crab Sandwich.  Of course I had to see my friends at Mama Musu...

Preview - Sunset & Dine 2016

At the iconic corner of Hollywood and Vine  lies the famous Capitol Records building. This time, I'm not in Hollywood to see the famous sights   but to get a preview of this year's Sunset and Dine  2016! This is the 5th annual Sunset & Dine , on September 1st in Hollywood. It's a food festival with sample food, beer and wine, and desserts from more than 20 Hollywood restaurants. There will be concert featuring Gabriel Garzon-Montano too. Proceeds benefit The Center at Blessed Sacrament See What Jay Eats... at this year's preview to Sunset & Dine Our first stop was Wood & Vine , at the corner of Hollywood and Vine The Mez-Mel with mescal, watermelon, lemon, lime, honey,  and a Serrano pepper. Sunday, August 21st was a special Barbecue Day! If you follow me, you know I love good BBQ and would spend all of my free time in Central Texas. See What Jay Eats... Of course my first stop is always Todo Verde for an agua fresca.  Today I had the Naranjada. With orange, orange blossom water, chia seeds, and maple syrup.  It was refreshing and kept me hydrated.  While talking to a couple of vendor friends, they introduced me to Henry of Yellow Business . They make Hong Kong Egg Waffles over charcoal. Henry suggested that I try the Matcha Green Tea version.
