Leoda's Kitchen and Pie Shop
Lahaina, Maui

For those of you who have traveled to Lahaina from the Kahului Airport on the Honoapi'ilani Highway, you've passed Leoda's Kitchen and Pie Shop. Sister to my favorite Maui restaurant, Star Noodle, I knew that I had to go on my next visit to Maui.

April 15, 2012

Having just returned from Maui, I was busy organizing all of the food pictures I took on my trip. OK, I was getting hungry too...I noticed on Facebook that Leoda's Kitchen won the "Best Takeout" category from Maui Magazine tonight. To celebrate, I opened a bag of my favorite Honolulu cookies and decided to complete this post...

Last October, Chef Sheldon Simeon gave me the 411 on Leoda's and I couldn't wait to visit, I was about 3 weeks too early for the opening. So last week, I was fortunate to go.

See What Jay Eats...

Fried Mac n Cheese

Elbow pasta, cheese: sharp white cheddar, gruyere, parmigiano reggiano,
with a roasted local tomato marinara sauce.

Who doesn't like mac n cheese
and then to fry it?

Rueben Lumpia

Corned beef, sauerkraut, provolone cheese,
with a side of house thousand island dressing

Fried Salad

Brussels sprout leaves, burnt orange vinaigrette, celery leaves,
mixed hydroponic greens, radish, and local mint.

I know what you're thinking, cause
I said the same thing...

This is NOW one of my ALL Time favorite salads!

ham'n...

Buttered rye bread, duroc ham, jarlsberg cheese, local basil pesto,
apricot-tomato jam, and garlic aioli

This takes grilled cheese to
new heights...

Meat 'n Potatoes Pot Pie

Braised short rib, red wine demi, russet potato,
served with a creamy horseradish sauce

I loved this, but then again I love
creamy horseradish with beef...

Savory Pot Pie
Braised Short Rib

Now I'm really hungry again...

@JulieYakaCoco making sure that we try the pies

Banana Cream Pie

A Must Have...

Yuzu-Lemon Tart

This was something I had to try...
I love yuzu!
(Japanese citrus)
